The Foundation is the path to bring Pan Am back to life. “You call it the world, we call it home”. This former Pan Am ad campaign says it all for those of us who worked for Pan Am: Pan Am was and is our home. In 1991 we lost our home. As in the movie “The Wizard of Oz”, The Foundation is our yellow brick road, we are clicking our heels, closing our eyes and with the help of our supporters, we will find our way home, to the Pan Am Museum.
25 years in airline leadership and team building positions equipped me with a skill set necessary for this project. I am a high energy, self-starter who likes to work in a fast paced, results oriented environment. Flexibility, patience, solid communication skills and the willingness to take calculated risks have always served me well. Perhaps the best skill I have is that of a solid commitment to seeing a project to it’s successful end. In the case of The Foundation, it will be a successful beginning to a new Pan Am Museum.
For the past 15 years I have been very involved volunteering within the medical industry.

I believe that Pan Am has a compelling and fascinating story to tell; one that will resonate today and always. In 1990, I joined the Board of Directors of World Wings International, the philanthropic organization of Former Pan Am Flight Attendants. During my years on the board I was Vice-President of Ways and Means, Vice-President Charity, Vice-President of Membership and International President. I have been an enthusiastic supporter and advocate for CARE, the global relief organization. My work with CARE has taking me on enlightening donor trips to Peru and Southern Vietnam.
Like so many other former Pan Am employees, I continue my passion for travel and I have experienced all seven continents and over 125 countries. Currently, I am enamored with all the countries of SE Asia but Istanbul and Paris continue to be my all-time favorite destinations.
I would like to make a special "shout out" to all my former students and many friends at World Wings!

A University of Notre Dame Alumni, Former Adjunct Professor at NYU and Pan Am enthusiast, I have spent over 30 years working as a finance manager, auditor and director - Most of this time I have spent it working within the global Hospitality Industry.
I have manage the financial interest of medium-large conglomerates and organized their accounting departments resulting in substantial annual savings. I have also been responsible for three separate operating entities grossing over $120,000,000 in annual sales and had oversight of their of their annual audits. I have extensive experience managing Sales, Occupancy, Utility and union benefit audits and have acted in a diverse leader roles for multi-location properties. I have also successfully executed the full migration of front office systems.
My experience as an Area Director of Finance with company oversight, committed to cost-effective management of resources and quality performance. A hands-on, highly motivated individual who is performance driven and is able to multitask with professionalism and accuracy I believe makes me a perfect fit for this incredible mission to keep and maintain a place to honor the legacy of Pan Am.

Starting as a summer hire while attending college, I worked in Passenger Services at New York's JFK Airport and over the next ten years I spent time in several Departments. I am especially proud to have been associated with the launch of both the Pan Am Shuttle and the Pan Am WorldPass Program.
When Pan Am ceased operations in 1991, I was the youngest employee to have been promoted to Reservations Manager in the Pan Am Building.
Since then, I have been seriously collecting Pan Am documents, photos and artifacts. My Pan Am collection now numbers over twelve thousand pieces. With a strong knowledge of Pan Am history and good organizational skills I will be spearheading the Foundation's own efforts to establish and display its own collection.

Since my days as a teenager interim in the Travel industry in El Salvador, my lifelong mentors were all seasoned former Pan Am Passenger Services and Sales personnel.
After I immigrated to the United States and once I had received authorization to work, I proceeded to knock on the doors of the most experienced airline ever. I joined the ranks of Reservations Sales and held positions as Lead Agent, Reservations Operations Center and WorldPass Service Center Supervisor in Alexandria, VA.
Pan Am was my College, my hands-on Vocational School and my years there equipped me with a wide range of skills, expertise and knowledge in technology and services that I have used throughout the years in an extensive list of projects, capacities and disciplines. I have provided advanced consulting services on Internet Technologies, Web Development Services, Emerging Telecommunications Technologies, Customer Care and Management solutions to companies and governments all over the world.
I've worked for the last 15 years bringing and implementing integrated solutions and software services to thousands of non-profit organizations of all types and sizes helping them with their goals by designing, building and deploying their strategies. This includes - Fundraising Database Management and Administration (Direct Mail & Online), Prospecting and Moves Management Tracking, Volunteer and Event engagement coordination.
Born with Albinism (albinism.org) - I am an avid activist and advocate in areas of human rights equality, social justice, the arts and fair access to people with disabilities. And now, I have been given an opportunity to give back to the one entity that made it all happened for me - PAN AMERICAN WORLD AIRWAYS.

More than just a place to work, Pan Am created a family that I am proud to still be part of. I hope to help tell our story through the creation of a museum and fill it with the more than 3,000 items I have personally collected over the years.
As an avid collector and amateur historian, The Pan Am World Wings Foundation is an ideal place for me to exercise my love of Pan Am’s firsts and the world history that Juan Trippe's airline helped to write.
Having been fortunate to be employed in the television business for more than 13 years, I feel that what notoriety I have gained can be put to good use through access to a variety of media outlets.
Whenever I am being interviewed, Pan Am is always a great conversation starter and more times than not I discover another connection to our family.

Years With Pan Am: 1964 - 1991
Pilot, Manager of Flight Standards
I joined Pan Am in July 1964, after 8 years in the Air Force flying B-52s and as a flight instructor in B-25s.
After a year as a corporate pilot, I headed for Pan Am. I spent my first 11 years in the IGS on the DC-6 and B-727, living in Berlin. In 1975 I transferred to JFK as a first officer on the B-747, then in 1978 checked out as captain on the 707.
I was Manager of Flight Standards on the L-1011 when that airplane came on board in 1980, then back to the 747 as captain in SFO in 1984. I was based there until SFO closed in 1988, then to LAX and finally back to JFK until the end. Along the way I had some great temporary assignments in HKG, SYD, and HNL.
After Pan Am I joined the FAA in Saint Louis, where I still am today, as an Air Carrier Inspector, and as such I stay current in air carrier airplanes. In my spare time I fly a B-25 Mitchell bomber in the Commemorative Air Force.
I am married to my lovely wife Carla, who in her Pan Am days as a purser was Carla Scheidker. I am delighted and excited to be a part of such a worthy endeavor, and look forward to working with all of you.

Following a dream to work for an airline one day, I joined Pan American World Airways on January 24, 1977. It was truly the first day of the rest of my life.
My career began working as a Clerk Stenographer in Labor Relations, followed by various management positions in Reservations, Sales and Marketing. These positions included working in the PAB, White Plains (HPN), and JFK. It was an honor and privilege to work with high-class, innovative, and progressive professionals who were some of the best in their fields. December 4, 1991, Pan Am’s last day of operations, was surely a sad day in aviation history.
While working at Pan Am, many of us used to say that we were not just a Company, we were a Family, and that our blood ran Pan Am blue. Even after all these years, so many of us stay in touch, with friendships spanning the globe, and a lifetime. Pan Am has enjoyed groundbreaking moments and a rich history that included many worldwide humanitarian efforts.
I am passionate about helping keep the Pan Am story alive for generations to come, and am most grateful to serve on the Pan Am Museum Foundation Board.
